Reborn Medicine King

C2653 The Godslayer Clan

C2653 The Godslayer Clan

1Chen Xing clearly didn't expect Black Wolf to say that.

"You’re not trying to pull a fast one on me, are you?"

Black Wolf replied, "What good would it do my master to trick you? What’s the benefit of being confined here? Only what you have in hand counts as a benefit, don’t you think?"

Chen Xing was evidently intrigued by Black Wolf's proposal.

"I do think it could work, but talk is cheap. We need to sign a contract; otherwise, why should I trust you? You were quite the slippery one back in the day!"

Black Wolf said, "No problem at all. I'll have my master draft a contract in the name of the Holy Son, laying out all the details. Then we can sign it. Teaming up is far better than mutual suspicion."

Chen Xing nodded, but he didn't forget to add, "Make sure you understand this: no tricks. We’re not fools."

Black Wolf chuckled, "Don’t worry, I wouldn’t dare play games with someone of your caliber. My master is only after the benefits."

Chen Xing seemed satisfied with that.

"Alright then, you all discuss it. I’ll go out and grab some drinks. Let’s hope this turns out well for everyone."

With that, Chen Xing vanished from sight.

After he left, Fang Xiang immediately communicated with Black Wolf, clearly wary that Chen Xing might still be secretly watching them.

"Is this guy really that strong? Can we trust him?"

Black Wolf replied, "Reaching Chen Xing's level, the sky isn't his limit. Sooner or later, he'll move on to other realms to keep improving himself. His goals don't clash with ours; he just doesn't want to be held back."

"Plus, by having you, the Holy Son, under his influence, he stands to gain a lot. But it won't be as easy as working with you. Offering him some benefits in exchange for his help and protection is a win-win for you."

"You must have sensed the caliber of those experts in the palace that day. You were just a minor figure in the Heaven Pavilion, and suddenly you're the Holy Son. How could those people accept that? Even when the Formation Spirit's avatar appeared, they weren't fully cooperative. So, Chen Xing is a great ally. With him around, others won't dare mess with you. His support will solidify your position as the Holy Son."

Fang Xiang nodded in agreement. "Alright, as long as I'm not under his control or restricted. I don't really care about the Holy Son title; it was Elder Brother Jiang and Brother Wan who gave it to me. I just want to keep advancing. As for the position of the Dry Thunder Sect leader, he can have it if he wants."

Hearing this, Black Wolf quickly responded, "That's not quite right. It's not just about them giving you the position. You obtaining the Divine Spell in the legacy shows the old sect leader's recognition. It's destiny. Don't underestimate the title of Dry Thunder Sect leader; it will be useful in the future. Never say things like that again, especially in front of others."

Jiang Fann nodded. "I understand."

...

One year later.

Myriad Clouds Mountain.

In the first half of the year, the Great Thousand World experienced five breaches, all probing attempts by the Ancient God Clan. Each time, Xiao Mo and the Old Dragon were the first to respond, swiftly dealing with their opponents and severely injuring several Ancient God Clan cultivators. However, for the past six months, there had been no further actions from the Great Thousand World, and peace prevailed between the two realms.

As for Jiang Fann, over the past year, he had become much more composed. His three disciples made rapid progress in their cultivation, and their skills in alchemy improved significantly. Initially, Jiang Fann hadn't planned to stay at the Heaven Pavilion for so long, but as he guided his disciples in their training and study of alchemy, he found his own mindset had greatly advanced. It was a unique and profound experience that benefited him immensely.

The Martial God Order provided some insight into this transformation. Some cultivators, upon reaching a certain level, find it difficult to progress further, as if they've reached the end of their path. After years of fruitless effort, they often choose to establish their own sects. This decision brings a sense of peace, and as they mentor their disciples, they gain a renewed understanding of their own power and a rare insight into their mindset. Many masters break through their bottlenecks and reach the next level through this process.

Jiang Fann found himself in a similar situation, though he was still in the prime of his cultivation journey, far from reaching that age.

This year, the Divine Blade has fully absorbed the celestial gold it acquired, repairing a third of its original damage and significantly boosting its power. Gu Xie's abilities have completely stabilized. Instead of staying in the sanctuary, she chose to train near the sacred tree, relishing the atmosphere there.

Jiang Fann brought back numerous techniques and insights from the upper realms, which he entrusted to Tao Zhen for distribution. These insights are invaluable to the disciples of the Heaven Pavilion, offering knowledge not found in the current Nine Desolations.

Throughout the year, the figure in the sky has remained, sensing every change in Jiang Fann's aura. Just like the day he arrived, his eyes are filled with hope.

"It seems almost ready, but it feels like something's still missing..." the old man muttered, scratching his head in evident puzzlement.

In the vast world, the initial upheaval in the Nine Desolations has settled. The Ancient God Clan is working to stabilize their positions, as they are not as powerful as before following the calamity.

Explorations of the Nine Desolations have been repeatedly thwarted by Xiao Mo and his companions. As Xiao Mo becomes increasingly ruthless, most of the Ancient God Clan prefer to avoid conflict, prioritizing their survival and conserving their strength to maintain their competitiveness in the vast world.

Even the God Clan and the Purple Jade Eagle Clan hadn't ventured back to the Nine Desolations this year.

Early one morning, a God Clan cultivator burst into the mountaintop hall, looking visibly distressed, which puzzled the clan leader.

"Why do you look so flustered? Did something happen? Is someone planning to attack our Mountain of Gods?"

The clan member, still anxious, replied, "Clan leader, we've received word from the northern Ancient God Clan. There's a firestorm spreading beyond the Yellow Sand Domain, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. Several Ancient God Clan members went to investigate, but the storm swallowed them. Even those at the reincarnation stage have vanished without a trace. However, someone sensed a presence from afar..."

Fear flickered in the clan member's eyes, especially since it involved a reincarnation stage cultivator.

The clan leader's expression turned grave, as if realizing something. "The God-Slayer Clan!"

The clan member quickly nodded. "If our guess is correct, it must be the red-scaled God-Slayer from years ago. We never expected them to remain in the world, and it seems they've recently awakened. This is serious trouble, and you must make a swift decision, clan leader."

Just as he finished speaking, the cry of an eagle echoed outside.

Moments later, the massive form of the Purple Jade Eagle landed outside the hall, then shrank down and flew inside.

"The mist near Eagle Ridge has suddenly reappeared, just like before. The chieftain asked me to inform you that the God-Slayer Clan might be awakening. Our clan can't stay in our territory anymore. We hope to temporarily relocate to the Mountain of Gods and then figure out our next steps."

These two pieces of news arrived simultaneously, leaving the chieftain of the God Clan unsettled, as memories from years ago flooded back.

It was during the peak of the highest heavens, a time when the Ancient God Clan boasted beings at the pinnacle of reincarnation. But with the arrival of those powerful entities, chaos ensued. Against these beings, even the top warriors of each clan were powerless. They couldn't harm even one of them, and instead, were slain and devoured. Thus, these powerful entities were named the God-Slayer Clan by the Ancient God Clan, as they fed on the blood of the gods with unparalleled might.

The chieftain said, "The Fire Demon that turned the Northern Marsh into the Yellow Sand Domain is also awakening. Could it be that as we are awakening, they are too?"

"Your Mountain of Gods is in the central region of the continent. Both the Mist Demon and the Fire Demon are far from here. We can gather our people together first and then figure out a plan."

"Your clan will surely perish if they stay there. Let them come over."

The Eagle Clan member nodded and quickly flew away, clearly in a hurry.

In various regions of the vast world, unusual changes were happening on this very day.

In less than half a day, the news of the Godslayer Clan's revival had spread across the entire world, shaking the Ancient God Clan to its core. Everyone was on edge.

"Damn those Godslayers! Are we supposed to go into hiding again just after we've resurfaced?"

"It's not that simple. Last time, we used the power of the heavens to retreat. It took so many of our best to buy us time back then. Now, we don't have that luxury."

"This is infuriating! Is the disaster from back then not over yet? Do they really want to destroy the Ancient God Clan completely?"

Many clans were scrambling to find ways to hide.

In the ocean region, the Ancient God Clan, who had recently settled there, also received news of the Godslayer Clan's revival. The clan leader remained calm, having anticipated this. When their clan had resurfaced, they noticed the fiery storm in the Yellow Sand Domain was exuding a familiar energy—one they knew all too well from the past.

A clan member spoke up, "Chief, it's a good thing we found out early. Otherwise, we'd be worried about this now."

The chief replied, "It seems the Godslayers are truly here to end the world. Let's hope our clan can survive this ordeal."

As they spoke, a massive shadow rapidly approached from the sea. Despite their powerful abilities, neither of them sensed it. Suddenly, the dark figure moved closer to the water's surface beneath them.

When the two realized what was happening, it was too late to dodge.

"Oh no!"

The leader quickly conjured a glowing orb in his hand, releasing his spiritual strength to form a protective barrier around them. A massive mouth snapped shut around them, and under its powerful bite, the barrier shattered instantly...
