C2622 The Third Divine Soul!
C2622 The Third Divine Soul!
Jiang Fann waved at one of them, a long-tailed weasel, which trotted up to him, examining him closely with clear, fearless eyes. Yet, when Jiang Fann reached out to touch it, the little creature gave a gentle hop back, creating a small gap before turning to scamper back to its companions.
Jiang Fann didn’t pursue it but instead took a moment to soak in the serene atmosphere of the place. Looking up towards the mountain's peak, the path appeared gentle and not nearly as steep as the other side.
As he continued towards the summit, he was surprised to find another palace, identical to the one he had seen before. Outside the palace was a smooth plaza where some mystical creatures had gathered, all turning their gaze towards Jiang Fann, creating a somewhat comical scene.
As Jiang Fann approached the plaza, the creatures hurried into the palace, peeking out to observe him, looking quite adorable. Standing outside the palace, Jiang Fann saw a figure emerge from the doorway, and his heart skipped a beat. It was a middle-aged cultivator, someone he had seen not long ago as a corpse in the palace below. Now, unexpectedly, he stood right before him.
Jiang Fann didn't sense any vitality from him, indicating that this body was merely an illusion. It was clear that this guy was either a lingering thought or the third fragment of someone's soul.
"Didn't expect anyone to make it this far. Looks like those two down there overestimated their abilities..."
A mystical creature approached him, leaping into his arms and rolling around affectionately. Jiang Fann observed the other person, noticing a lack of the hostility he'd encountered with the previous soul fragments. Instead, there was only calmness.
This puzzled Jiang Fann. He didn't know the person's identity or past, nor what kind of person they were in life. However, he was certain of one thing: this individual had set up a plan for rebirth, requiring the possession of another's body to return to life. That wasn't something a peaceful practitioner would do.
Jiang Fann was straightforward, saying calmly, "Are you talking about those two soul fragments? I've already erased them. They repeatedly tried to possess my friend's body, so I had no choice but to eliminate them..."
To Jiang Fann's surprise, the other person remained unfazed upon hearing about the erasure of the soul fragments, as if it had nothing to do with him.
"Looks like those two left a mess for me again. Didn't expect them to end up erased. But with your abilities, you probably couldn't have done it alone. Seems like you had some help, right?"
Jiang Fann said, "My sources tell me you should have left behind three strands of your soul. If I'm not mistaken, you're the third strand, right? But the power you're giving off is definitely different from theirs."
"That's right, just as you thought. But since they were erased, it's their own fault for not mastering their skills. I'll have to figure out how to separate more soul strands to replace them. But before that, don't you owe me an explanation?"
The other person continued to smile at Jiang Fann, but this time, Jiang Fann sensed an underlying tension in their words.
"What kind of explanation do you want? You're not planning to make things difficult for me like they did, are you?"
"Make things difficult for you? You disrupted their years of planning and even disturbed my physical form. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
Jiang Fann wasn't angry. He smiled at the other person and said, "There's something you might not understand. It wasn't me who disturbed your physical form; it was the soul in that palace halfway up the mountain. What does that have to do with me? If anyone owes an explanation, it's you to me. You don't think you can threaten me now, do you? If you were still alive, I might be a bit wary, but now, what do I have to fear?"
Hearing this, the creature in the other person's arms suddenly trembled and then jumped to the ground, clearly sensing something. The creatures in the palace scattered as if frightened by something.
The spirit stared at Jiang Fann, its expression unchanged. Jiang Fann also remained emotionless, sensing a shift in the surrounding energy. The once peaceful atmosphere shattered in an instant, replaced by complete darkness where he couldn't see his own hand in front of his face.
He recognized this environment; it was reminiscent of the dark zone he had encountered before, though the energy here was even stronger. It wasn't that he had been pulled into that area again.
The figure had vanished into the darkness, but its voice echoed from all directions, making it impossible to pinpoint its location. "You should know your own limits. A mere novice at the Dao Understanding Stage dares to act arrogant with me..."
The voice was ethereal, and by the last word, it was barely audible. Jiang Fann felt a wave of chaos around him, with familiar voices seeming to come from right beside him.
"Jiang Fann!"
"Brother Fann..."
"Boss!"
"Bro..."
In the next moment, Jiang Fann felt as if he had been jolted awake. Blinking, he saw Qin Wuliang shaking his shoulder.
"Boss, wake up! Don't sleep now; we still have a journey ahead!"
Jiang Fann was a bit dazed. Next to him were Ling'er, Shen Meng, and the others, with Han Qianxue watching him with wide eyes and a gentle smile.
He asked, "Where are we?"
"Boss, are you still half-asleep? You don't know where we are? We're heading to the Nine Heavens for training. Chengtian and the others will be here soon..."
Everything felt so real. Jiang Fann could even touch Ling'er's face; everything he cherished was right beside him.
Even though this was the scene he longed for, Jiang Fann's gaze gradually became resolute. A silver glow emanated from his mind, a testament to the power of Xiao Yu.
"If only you were really here..."
Jiang Fann sighed, then used the Divine Eye technique. In an instant, everything around him shattered, and he returned to reality.
Once again, darkness enveloped him. With the Golden Eye of Fire and Xiao Yu's support, the illusion had little effect on him, even if it was crafted by a master.
The Heaven Burning Fire blazed around him, illuminating the surroundings. In the darkness, a spirit looked at Jiang Fann in surprise, clearly not expecting him to break through the illusion so quickly.
Jiang Fann focused on the spirit, gripping the God-Slaying Blade, a hint of killing intent in his eyes.
"You think you can disturb my path?"
As he spoke, the blade glowed with a red light infused with divine blood. With a swift motion, he sliced through the darkness, which shattered into pieces, freeing Jiang Fann from the dark world.
By now, he stood at the edge of the mountain summit's plaza. The darkness he had just experienced was another illusion, merely the outermost layer, akin to a dream. Unfortunately, it couldn't deceive Jiang Fann, as he possessed an immortal treasure like Xiao Yu, making him immune to such illusions. He had been alerted to the situation immediately.
The spirit remained in its previous position, as if it had never moved, but its expression was no longer as composed; there was a hint of surprise in its eyes. Meanwhile, Jiang Fann unleashed the power of his divine blood, his aura fully expanded, and the Devil God Spell was in full effect as he advanced toward his opponent with his blade.
Had the opponent not attacked him, Jiang Fann might have given him a chance. But now, Jiang Fann had no goodwill left; eliminating the opponent was the best solution. He could already sense the formation gathering in the palace behind the spirit. Even from a distance, he could feel the aura of the inheritance array, suggesting that this spirit was likely guarding the inheritance.
As Jiang Fann approached, the spirit suddenly released a powerful mental attack aimed directly at Jiang Fann's mind. However, with his full strength deployed, Jiang Fann was unaffected, which undoubtedly added immense pressure on the spirit. Surrounded by the intense aura, for the first time, the spirit felt that this young man was incredibly dangerous, as he exerted tremendous pressure.
Out of a sense of pride, the spirit refused to back down and shouted, "Stop! Or I'll summon my physical form. You've seen it before, right?"
This caught Jiang Fann off guard. He vividly remembered that body, which even Xiao Mo couldn't defeat. It wasn't surprising that this guy could summon it. If it really appeared, Jiang Fann wasn't confident he could win.
But until it showed up, why would Jiang Fann retreat?
As the distance between them shrank to just a few feet, the ground in front of the spirit began to ripple with energy. In the next moment, the body emerged, looking exactly like the spirit. It had only suffered minor injuries in its earlier fight with Xiao Mo, which showed how formidable it was.
Seeing this, Jiang Fann immediately activated his domain again, with a clear goal: to eliminate the spirit. Without its control, the body would be useless.
"Domain!"
The spirit was shocked, clearly not expecting Jiang Fann to have mastered such a technique.
As Jiang Fann's figure vanished, the spirit wasted no time, moving right next to the body and channeling energy to empower it, ready to counter Jiang Fann's approach.
Jiang Fann appeared behind him, swinging the Blade of the Divine with precision and force!
But just at the critical moment, the body intervened, meeting the Blade of the Divine with its bare hand.
A burst of sparks erupted as the two made contact, the corpse's strength comparable to a powerful treasure, truly terrifying. However, the crimson aura of divine blood left a black mark on the opponent's palm.
Failing to land a hit, Jiang Fann immediately vanished, putting distance between them. Clearly, he had no intention of engaging the corpse directly, knowing it was a formidable presence even Xiaomo couldn't handle.
The corpse reached for Jiang Fann but grasped only air, losing its lock on him. Even with control over the surrounding formations, the spirit couldn't pinpoint Jiang Fann's presence in this domain.
The spirit glanced at the black mark on the corpse's hand, utterly shocked, fully aware of the immense strength of its own physical form.
