Reborn Medicine King

C2603 Giant!

C2603 Giant!

1After a few tremors, a large boulder beside the three of them was pressed into the ground by an enormous foot. Each toe on that gigantic foot was much larger than any of the three, which was quite astonishing. They looked up but couldn't make out the figure above because the moonlight was blocked by the massive silhouette, revealing only a huge outline. It seemed to be a humanoid creature that stepped over them without noticing their presence.

However, through the barrier, Jiang Fann could sense the creature's aura, indicating it was at the fifth level of the Reincarnation Realm. This being was clearly following the path the wild boar had mentioned, and its target was obvious. Once it moved a bit farther away, the three of them could finally see its back—a towering figure, several stories tall, covered in thick fur, walking upright, with a robust build, dressed in animal skins. It appeared to be a giant with a unique lineage.

"This thing is enormous," Wan Xin remarked, visibly apprehensive as she stared at the giant footprint beside the barrier. For the first time, she questioned whether she should have come here with the others. After all, it had only been a couple of hours, and they had already encountered two formidable creatures, both beyond the Reincarnation Realm, any of which could easily overpower her.

Wan Chengfeng, however, remained much calmer. After marveling at the giant's retreating figure, he turned his attention back to Jiang Fann.

"Wouldn't having this thing as a pet be kind of terrifying?"

Jiang Fann said, "This guy might be from some ancient race. Imagine if a whole group of them showed up one day—wouldn't that be a problem?"

"Yeah, let's not. Besides, it doesn't seem very smart, not even as clever as that wild boar."

Despite the joking, Wan Chengfeng was clearly on edge, though he seemed more at ease than Wan Xin. Lin Zhan had sensed a powerful presence in this area before, and it was likely this creature.

It wasn't until the footsteps faded into the distance that Wan Xin dared to breathe a sigh of relief, though she still looked tense. She glanced at Jiang Fann, who appeared completely calm, and couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you scared at all?"

Jiang Fann replied, "What's there to be scared of? Being afraid won't stop it from coming after us. Figuring out how to handle it is what matters."

Wan Chengfeng chuckled and added, "So, you're actually scared..."

Wan Xin frowned, "I'm not scared!"

Just as she finished speaking, the footsteps started coming closer again, and Wan Xin immediately fell silent. Soon, they saw the massive figure approaching from a distance. It looked fierce, with tusks and horns, quite different from a human. However, it didn't seem to notice the three of them as it passed by. Wherever it went, the already sparse grass and plants withered, as if their essence had been drained away.

As the giant vanished into the night, Jiang Fann instructed the others to stay within the protective barrier while he ventured out to the area where the plants had withered. He carefully sensed the energy of the plants and found that their life force was completely drained, undoubtedly due to the giant's influence.

Returning to the barrier, Wan Chengfeng immediately asked, "What happened?"

"The giant seems to have a unique ability to absorb life force, and it's incredibly effective, possibly more so than some dark practitioners. However, when it passed by, I didn't feel any special power."

"Either way, it seems like something we shouldn't mess with. Should we keep moving forward?"

Jiang Fann nodded, then cautioned them, "I can't bypass the next barrier directly, so we need to be extra careful. If the powerful beings here can communicate freely, news of our presence will spread quickly, just like how that wild boar beast alerted the giant."

Wan Chengfeng remarked, "Logically, these creatures shouldn't care about us, right? To them, we're just small fry."

Jiang Fann shook his head with a smile, "Brother Wan, you still think you're at your old level? You're in the reincarnation stage now, definitely not a small fry."

Wan Chengfeng: "..."

As the three continued their journey, Jiang Fann consistently channeled spiritual strength to support the others, ensuring their safety. Along the way, Lin Zhan confirmed that the powerful presence they sensed earlier indeed belonged to the giant, and this area was likely its territory. As long as they didn't provoke it, other dangers should be negligible.

Jiang Fann surveyed the surroundings, confirming that the area wasn't very large. The giant likely roamed within this range, perhaps hunting or for some other reason, which explained the sparse vegetation.

Half an hour later, Wan Chengfeng suddenly noticed a mark on a nearby rock. The mark was made with spiritual strength, forming a unique pattern. Wan Chengfeng recognized its origin almost instantly and said, "This was left by someone from my clan, but it doesn't seem like it was made by my father or grandfather."

Wan Xin nodded in agreement. "It seems like our ancestors weren't the only ones who entered this sacred ground. But that's not surprising, considering the elder must have been here before. This might be a mark he left long ago."

Wan Chengfeng disagreed, "The elder's power back then was much stronger than the aura on this mark. It's possible this place was once a training ground for our clan, but something happened, and that's why it's off-limits now. If you think about it, our clan should have more members than we do now. Where those others went, no one ever told us."

As he spoke, Wan Chengfeng infused his spiritual strength into the mark, sensing its energy. He then turned to Jiang Fann and said, "This is a warning mark for future generations. There's danger ahead."

Jiang Fann didn't react much. He was well aware of the dangers here, but everything was still within his control, and he had no intention of leaving just yet.

Wan Chengfeng, familiar with Jiang Fann's capabilities, tried to persuade Wan Xin, who was standing nearby. "Why don't you stay in my enchanted treasure for a few days? Even if something happens to me, you'll be safe there, and you can come out when things settle down. I don't want to face the old man without you."

Wan Xin replied with a hint of annoyance, "Stop trying to scare me. I know Jiang Fann has help, so I'm not worried about the danger here."

Hearing this, Wan Chengfeng quickly asked, "How do you know?"

"My grandpa told me," Wan Xin answered.

Wan Chengfeng frowned, pondering for a moment before looking at Jiang Fann. "It seems my father has already heard about our encounter in the kingdom. No wonder he hasn't been in a hurry to find me since I got back. They probably know we entered the inner valley."

Jiang Fann chuckled, "Maybe they're following us right now, planning to watch you stumble."

Wan Xin said, "They wouldn't follow us. Before I came here, I secretly visited the family shrine, and they were all busy training."

Wan Chengfeng replied, "You think they wouldn't know your little schemes? If you hadn't come along, I might not have suspected they already knew. But you're right about one thing—they won't follow us. Our training never relies on our elders; at most, they just stop us from leaving."

Despite noticing the mark, the three of them didn't stop. Instead, they continued moving forward. Jiang Fann's plan was straightforward: gain as much advantage as possible, then leave for a while to check on things back home. The revival of the Ancient God Clan in the vast world might not bode well for his homeland.

As they approached the barrier to the next area, Jiang Fann set up a concealment array to ensure the demonic beasts wouldn't detect them. He then quietly began assimilating the Spiritual Strength there. He wasn't worried about wasting time; it was a good opportunity to study the power within the inhibition closely.

Jiang Fann was still concerned about the powerful Spiritual Strength that had pursued Lin Zhan earlier. He knew he needed to be cautious. While assimilating the Spiritual Strength, he realized that this inhibition was noticeably stronger than the previous two, requiring more time to assimilate.

Injecting his Spiritual Sense into it, Jiang Fann felt the array patterns and the fluctuations of Spiritual Strength within the inhibition. Through the Chapter of Pill Dao, he could glean some useful insights, which would certainly aid his understanding of arrays.

However, it wasn't long before he sensed a powerful force suddenly enveloping him from the inhibition. This surprised him greatly, as they hadn't yet reached the area Lin Zhan had explored, yet the force felt identical to the one that had pursued Lin Zhan before.

Lin Zhan clearly sensed the approaching force and said to Jiang Fann, "Young Master, your spiritual strength is probably more noticeable than mine in this barrier, which is why you were detected first."

"I'll try to alter my spiritual strength," Jiang Fann replied. He mimicked the spiritual strength of the previous barrier and infused it again. This time, the force that had been approaching didn't return, as if it ignored his presence. This confirmed his suspicion: although the spiritual strength was slightly different, it originated from the same source, so it wasn't targeted.

Lin Zhan re-entered the barrier, this time enveloping himself with the spiritual strength Jiang Fann had assimilated. He explored the nearby area, noting the returning force. Without sensing their presence, he felt much calmer.

He then reported to Jiang Fann, "Young Master, the next area seems to lack any strong life force, and the environment is much better than here, but it's filled with barriers. I'll try to map out the distribution of these barriers so you can prepare for any changes."

"Be careful," Jiang Fann advised.

With that, Lin Zhan passed through the barrier to investigate the next area. As long as he didn't stray too far, he could manipulate Jiang Fann's spiritual strength, so he wasn't worried about being detected by other forces.

As Lin Zhan explored the new area, Jiang Fann's mind filled with impressions of the barriers, thanks to Lin Zhan's efforts. These impressions revealed the situation in the area beyond the barrier.

During this time, Wan Chengfeng took the opportunity to teach Wan Xin a technique to suppress her energy. He had acquired this method during his travels, and it proved to be more effective than the one from the valley.
