Reborn Medicine King

C2599 Immortal Valley!

C2599 Immortal Valley!

1Old Man Shen Ji was clearly a bit unwilling. As the guardian of the realm, he naturally wanted their world to rise, to improve its standing, and allow the hidden families to reemerge. For years, he had watched helplessly as outsiders invaded, leaving their world in tatters, and he had long since had enough.

He looked up at the sky, seeing the golden symbols flickering above, feeling a deep sense of frustration. The power of the old man in plain clothes was beyond his comprehension, yet he easily halted the forces of destiny.

"Please, enlighten me!" Old Man Shen Ji implored.

The old man hesitated for a moment before speaking. "The rise here is influenced by cause and effect. Randomly boosting it might not make your world stronger; it could actually hinder a more significant opportunity for growth. If I had ill intentions, I wouldn't waste my time here with you. Don't disturb my peace. Once I get what I want, I'll leave."

Though Old Man Shen Ji didn't fully grasp the old man's words, he understood the latter part clearly—the stranger didn't want to be disturbed. He had no idea what the old man sought, but he knew better than to press further, as offending him could have unimaginable consequences.

"Then I'll take my leave," he said, and with that, Old Man Shen Ji vanished.

The old man cast his line again, pulling up another golden carp, which obediently entered his basket without resistance.

...

The Immortal Valley was located on the outskirts of the highest heavens. Before entering its boundaries, the surrounding spiritual energy was weak, almost barren, yet it exuded a formidable aura, with a hint of decay lingering in the air.

Once you step into the territory of the Valley, you can feel a noticeable change in spiritual energy. This area was once known as a forbidden zone, which initially deterred many practitioners. Later, when the Valley established itself here, it remained unwelcoming to outsiders, so few practitioners ventured in. People generally avoided provoking this ancient power to steer clear of trouble.

Jiang Fann followed Wan Chengfeng into the Valley's territory, not sensing any special barrier like the one at Fire Melt Valley. It seemed the Valley wasn't particularly guarded against outside practitioners.

"Isn't the Valley worried about outsiders sneaking in?" Jiang Fann asked.

Wan Chengfeng replied, "This place was once a forbidden zone. The safe areas are under our Valley's control. Any other place is as good as a death trap for practitioners who wander in. That's why no one dares to mess with us."

"What you mentioned might deter those with lower skills, but practitioners at the Reincarnation Stage could still survive the forbidden zone, right?"

"True, but such experts usually don't want to make enemies with our Valley. Our elders are quite formidable."

As they spoke, a barrier finally appeared ahead. Jiang Fann could sense the presence of a formation, and the shadowy image beyond the barrier indicated the entrance to a valley, though it seemed somewhat surreal.

As they approached the barrier, Wan Chengfeng took out his token and activated it. A gap appeared in the barrier, just wide enough for the two of them to pass through. On either side were sheer cliffs, with mist swirling above, obscuring the sky.

Some mystical creatures lived here and weren't afraid of humans. A couple of spirit deer, upon seeing Wan Chengfeng, ran over and affectionately nuzzled his face, clearly welcoming him back. They were noticeably less friendly towards Jiang Fann.

Returning to the valley, Wan Chengfeng was in high spirits. He turned to Jiang Fann and said, "I'll introduce you to my family in a bit."

As they walked towards the valley, a figure appeared. It was a middle-aged practitioner who had just leaped down from a cliffside, landing right in front of them. His presence was strong, at the eighth level of the Mortal Separating Stage, and his age was indiscernible.

"Wan Chengfeng, you've actually made a breakthrough!"

This man appeared much older than Wan Chengfeng, though it was clear Wan Chengfeng had used some means to maintain his youthful appearance. The practitioner's aura was similar to Wan Chengfeng's, indicating they shared the same lineage.

He was both surprised and delighted, scrutinizing Wan Chengfeng while completely ignoring Jiang Fann.

"Thanks to Jiang's help, I was able to heal an old ailment and then visited the ruins of the Thunder Sect with him. I successfully received the inheritance there and made a breakthrough. Fortunately, everything's been fine in the valley, right? I had a run-in with the Central Dynasty before, and I hope it hasn't caused you any trouble."

Upon mentioning this, the monk decisively shook his head. "Our people rarely venture out for training. We have such a good environment here that we haven't been affected. The central kingdom is so far away; they wouldn't bother with us. It's just that Wan Xin, that girl, went out and might have run into some trouble, so she returned early, but she didn't say much about it."

Wan Chengfeng said, "You keep watch here. I'll take my friend into the valley."

The monk nodded at Jiang Fann, then leaped upward, disappearing into the mist above, his presence vanishing as well. Clearly, he was stationed there to prevent outsiders from sneaking in.

Wan Chengfeng continued forward with Jiang Fann, saying, "I didn't expect it to only affect Wan Xin, that girl."

"The little princess from the valley who went to the secret realm to find you before?" Jiang Fann asked.

Wan Chengfeng nodded. "Yes, she's indeed the little princess of our valley, very talented. When I left last time, she was close to reaching the Mortal Separating Stage. I wonder if she succeeded."

As they entered the valley, the lush vegetation made it feel like a paradise on earth, reminiscent of the Three Lives Valley in the Nine Desolations, yet with distinctly different energies. Wan Chengfeng was clearly familiar with the area, introducing Jiang Fann to various aspects of the valley. Only his clan's monks lived here, so there weren't many rules to follow. Besides them, the valley was home to numerous spirit beasts, including a spirit deer at the Reincarnation Stage, boasting considerable strength.

Wan Chengfeng led Jiang Fann directly to a village, where his people lived. It was noticeably different from the opulence of the outside world; the cultivators of this valley led much simpler lives. Their demeanor was ethereal, as if untouched by the mundane world.

This contrast made Jiang Fann recall the time he saw Wan Chengfeng in the royal city of the Central Kingdom a year ago. Back then, Wan Chengfeng had been deeply affected by something, even more so than when Jiang Fann first met him at the ant nest.

Soon, a young boy came running out of the village, his face lit up with excitement. "Uncle Chengfeng is back!"

His voice echoed through the village, loud and clear. Jiang Fann noticed that the boy was quite powerful for his age, having reached the peak of the Divine Dharma Stage at just eleven or twelve years old—a talent unimaginable in the Nine Desolations.

In no time, many villagers emerged from their homes, looking toward the village entrance. Some were discussing among themselves, their eyes filled with warmth as they gazed at Wan Chengfeng.

Most of the cultivators had reached the Mortal Separating Stage, a testament to the formidable strength of their bloodline.

The young boy approached them, curiously examining Jiang Fann. Then he turned to Wan Chengfeng, asking a question that seemed to come from deep within.

"Uncle, Sister Xin said you might bring Auntie back when you returned to the valley. Why is it a man instead?"

Jiang Fann: "..."

Wan Chengfeng playfully punched the young man on the head. The young man winced in pain, turned around, and ran off, causing the villagers to burst into laughter.

Just then, a deep voice echoed from the depths of the village.

"Chengfeng, come see me."

Wan Chengfeng led Jiang Fann into the village, exchanging brief greetings with the villagers before striding purposefully toward the village's heart, with Jiang Fann following closely behind.

At the village's core stood a temple, prominently built with considerable effort. Wan Chengfeng and Jiang Fann entered directly, where they were greeted by a towering statue of a man, robust and dignified, likely an ancestor of their clan.

Jiang Fann noticed the statue still exuded a strong spiritual presence, indicating that the clan's forebear was still alive, though his whereabouts were unknown.

Wan Chengfeng respectfully bowed to the statue, then led Jiang Fann around it. Soon, they came upon an elder deep in meditation. Beside him was the little princess of the valley, whom Jiang Fann had met before. She opened her eyes and looked their way, clearly expecting their arrival.

Wan Chengfeng stepped forward and said, "Grandson's back."

Jiang Fann bowed respectfully, "I'm Jiang Fann, pleased to meet you, sir."

Wan Xin was sizing up Jiang Fann, clearly a bit surprised. She hadn't interacted much with him before, but she'd heard plenty about him. His performance during the trial had been outstanding, and he even rescued the person she was looking for. Back then, Jiang Fann's level wasn't particularly high, so it was unexpected for him to have caught up so quickly.

The old man looked at Wan Chengfeng with delight. "You've broken through!"

Wan Chengfeng didn't intend to hide anything and shared how Jiang Fann had helped heal him, including their entry into the Thunder Sect. The news about the Thunder Sect was bound to spread, especially since Fang Xiang's identity was already circulating among the big names.

Hearing this, the old man had to reassess Jiang Fann, having already heard some news about Wan Chengfeng traveling with him. He also knew that Wan Chengfeng was wanted by the Central Dynasty because of this young man.

"You're quite the bold young man to have crossed paths with a prince. It's truly remarkable. I'm really grateful for helping Chengfeng make his breakthrough."

Wan Xin added, "That's not all. He also rescued my uncle from the secret realm. I just brought him back."

The old man said, "It seems you and Chengfeng really have a connection. It's wonderful that you could come visit the valley together this time. You must stay for a few days so I can properly host you."

Wan Chengfeng's eyes lit up at these words.

With a big smile, he said, "Grandpa, I promised my buddy Jiang we'd take a look around the restricted area. How about we skip the formalities? Could you just open a path for us so we can go explore?"
