C2515 Invitation from the Pill Gate
C2515 Invitation from the Pill Gate
At this moment, Zhu Yan and Fang Xiang had already approached Jiang Fann. Zhu Yan had overheard Chen Ning's invitation from a distance and quickly rushed over to speak first.
"Pharmacist Chen Ning, regarding Jiang Fann joining the guild, we need to consult with our elders before making a decision. However, I will do my best to persuade them to allow our pharmacists to join, fostering better collaboration between us and the guild..."
Zhu Yan knew exactly what needed to be done. This was his first direct conversation with the guild's leadership, and he was clearly in high spirits.
Chen Ning glanced at Zhu Yan and then at Jiang Fann, who showed no intention of speaking. Turning back to Zhu Yan, Chen Ning said, "I never expected such a talented young pharmacist to emerge from your region. The guild always welcomes gifted pharmacists."
"This young man is indeed exceptional, but it also reflects our community's prosperity. We hope to have more exchanges with the guild in the future."
Meanwhile, Fang Xiang pulled Jiang Fann aside, visibly excited, leaving Zhu Yan to handle the conversation with Chen Ning.
He whispered to Jiang Fann, "What exactly is the treasure that's been circulating from the ancestral realm? You must have checked it out by now, right?"
"I'll show you once we're out of here, but it's not much use to you. There are too many people around, and too many eyes on us."
Fang Xiang chuckled, "You really impressed everyone this time, snatching the prize that the Alchemy Guild was so keen on. Even those two mysterious alchemist prodigies from the guild conceded. Naturally, the big shots are interested in you. No doubt, Zhu Yan is going to be busy for a while."
Jiang Fann glanced over at Zhu Yan, who was deep in conversation with Chen Ning. It was clear Chen Ning was eager to glean more information from him.
A figure approached them—it was Qin Feng.
Qin Feng greeted them with a hint of apology on his face. "I'm sorry I couldn't choose the elixir from Master Zhu earlier. I hope we can exchange insights on alchemy sometime and get to know each other better."
Jiang Fann smiled at Qin Feng. He whispered, "I didn't expect your alchemy skills to improve so much in such a short time. But you're still a bit behind those two. You'll need to keep working hard."
Qin Feng was momentarily stunned by the voice in his head, then looked at Jiang Fann in surprise.
"You..."
Fang Xiang quickly communicated, "Qin Feng, if you reveal his identity, our friendship is over."
Hearing this, Qin Feng immediately snapped to attention. Having traveled with Fang Xiang for so long, he could easily recognize his voice. He never expected the two people in front of him to be them.
He glanced at Jiang Fann and sighed, "If I had known you were coming, I wouldn't have wasted all those hard-earned materials. But if I have to lose to someone, I'm glad it's you."
Qin Feng held great respect for Jiang Fann. Back in the secret realm, he had already realized Jiang Fann's mastery in alchemy was far superior to his own. Moreover, without Jiang Fann's help that day, he wouldn't have received the final inheritance.
Jiang Fann communicated back, "Let's talk after this is all over. You should head back; the higher-ups from the Alchemy Guild are watching."
Qin Feng nodded, "I'll take my leave then. See you later."
With that, he didn't linger any longer. He had only come to make connections, not expecting to run into familiar faces. Given Jiang Fann's cautious demeanor, it was clear he had reasons to be discreet, and Qin Feng needed to respect that.
After Qin Feng left, Zhu Yan approached with Chen Ning.
Zhu Yan directly addressed Jiang Fann, "Chen Ning from the Alchemy Guild wants to introduce you to more advanced alchemists. They're interested in taking you on as a student. What's your decision?"
Jiang Fann spoke up directly, "I can't make this decision on my own. We'll have to wait until we get back and consult with our family's elder."
This was something he and Zhu Yan had agreed on beforehand, to defer the decision to the elder of the Zhu family. Although Jiang Fann was eager to discuss the art of alchemy with the true masters, now was clearly not the right time. He also didn't want to interact with those influential figures under his current identity, as it would only be a matter of time before his true identity was revealed.
Chen Ning said, "You should think this through. They are some of the most powerful alchemists in the realm. If they change their minds later, even your family's elder might not be able to persuade them."
Jiang Fann responded decisively, "Thank you for your concern, but I've already made up my mind."
Seeing this, Chen Ning sighed, "That's really a shame. The pill furnace and treasures you obtained are incredibly valuable. If you find you can't use them in the future, you can come to us at the Alchemy Guild. We'll buy them back at a high price, and you won't be disappointed."
Jiang Fann nodded, "Thank you in advance for your generosity."
Chen Ning was clearly someone who could take things in stride. While Jiang Fann's talent in alchemy was the most impressive he'd ever seen, it wasn't enough to make him lose his composure. Normally, they were the ones who stood above, often ignoring the higher-ups of major sects.
Zhu Yan had already exchanged the Spirit Attached Jade with Chen Ning, something he had long dreamed of acquiring, and he was in high spirits.
He turned to Jiang Fann and said, "Don't rush off just yet. Let's spend a day in the town outside the valley before we leave. We shouldn't waste this opportunity."
Fang Xiang looked at him, puzzled, and asked, "Why do you say that?"
"Is it that strange? This time, he's going to attract a lot of alchemists with invitations, especially after turning down the Pill Sect. It's rare to get a chance to connect with so many high-ranking alchemists. By leveraging his reputation, I can network with them, and I won't have to worry about having no one to discuss alchemy with when I travel in the future."
Zhu Yan clearly had thought this through. It was evident that he had been considering these things ever since Jiang Fann completed his alchemy.
Jiang Fann spoke up, "I'm not interested in mingling with them."
Zhu Yan laughed and said, "Don't worry, you don't have to show your face. You can just rest at the inn, and I'll handle everything."
With that, he led Jiang Fann toward the valley's exit, clearly not planning to linger there. After all, no one could approach him here except for members of the Pill Sect.
The alchemists who had been animatedly discussing on the platform saw Jiang Fann and his companions leaving. Some high-ranking alchemists stood up, intending to leave the valley as well, each with their own plans.
An elder alchemist from the Heaven Pavilion also rose, and the cultivators around him quickly followed.
"Sir, take it easy. That guy turned down the Pill Sect's invitation, so there's no point in us trying to approach him, right?"
As the old man continued on his way, he responded, "We're not like the Dan Sect with all their strict rules. There's still hope for us since our clan of cultivators doesn't want to be bound by such constraints. The rules at Nine Heavens Pavilion are much more relaxed."
With this thought in mind, many alchemists stood up and headed out of the valley, eager to chat with the young alchemist who had suddenly risen to prominence. Fang Xiang was the first to notice this development.
"Elder Brother Jiang, it looks like Brother Zhu Yan might be tied up for a while. Shouldn't we get going?"
Jiang Fann nodded, ignoring Zhu Yan, who was deliberately waiting for those alchemists to catch up. He quickened his pace toward the valley's exit.
Once they left the valley, Jiang Fann and his companion planned to find an inn to rest. However, they hadn't gone far when Jiang Fann sensed several spiritual presences locking onto him. But just as he became aware of them, the presences shifted away, preventing him from pinpointing their location.
Little Jade, however, promptly alerted Jiang Fann, "The alley to the southwest."
Jiang Fann didn't look directly but casually glanced in that direction as they passed by. The alley was empty; whoever had been there had already left, clearly keeping a low profile.
"Did you see who it was?"
Xiao Yu said, "No, those three guys left quickly and were very cautious."
Jiang Fann wasn't too worried. After all, he had someone as skilled as Xiao Mo by his side. While they might not be invincible, they could certainly protect themselves.
Without saying much, Fang Xiang quickly led Jiang Fann to an inn, got a room, and used a Spirit Attached Jade to inform Zhu Yan of their location.
Meanwhile, Zhu Yan had become the center of attention among a group of alchemists. From now on, he would no longer be marginalized. Some who had previously spoken against him even came to offer sincere apologies. In their eyes, Zhu Yan was sure to become a distinguished guest of the Pill Sect, a significant position in the world of alchemy.
As for Jiang Fann and Fang Xiang, they were already in their room. Fang Xiang eagerly set up an inhibition to block outside noise and couldn't wait to get close to Jiang Fann.
"Come on, let me see it."
Jiang Fann knew what he meant and didn't waste any time. He summoned the Divine Spell and presented it to Fang Xiang. Due to time constraints, he hadn't had a chance to see which fragment of the Divine Spell it was.
Fang Xiang took the Divine Spell in his hands, focused his Spiritual Sense on it, and began to study it carefully.
Meanwhile, within Jiang Fann, the Divine Spell was vibrating, clearly wanting to reclaim this fragment. However, Jiang Fann suppressed it with his Spiritual Strength, preventing the Divine Spell from acting out.
Fang Xiang observed for a while but found nothing, leaving him puzzled. "The material's origin is unknown, only that it's a high-quality treasure. But why is it completely blank? Could it be that my spiritual sense isn't strong enough to see through the inhibition? This is really strange."
As he spoke, Fang Xiang handed the Divine Spell back to Jiang Fann. As the manager of the Heaven Pavilion, he had appraised countless treasures in his time. Usually, he could discern most items with ease, but this Divine Spell truly stumped him.
"It looks like a piece of paper! Do you really know what it's for?"
