C2619 Tough Luck!
C2619 Tough Luck!
Before he could get too close, Jiang Fann suddenly sensed a powerful spiritual sense sweeping over him. Immediately after, he felt a strong presence enter the range of his own Spiritual Sense.
"A reincarnation level!"
Though he hadn't seen the beast yet, the aura he sensed made it clear that this creature was at least at the reincarnation level, and not just a recent breakthrough. The strength he felt was likely no weaker than that of the black wolf—a formidable existence indeed.
What surprised Jiang Fann was that this creature's spiritual sense had already scanned him, yet it didn't react at all. Even though he had assimilated the formation's power, it only allowed him to influence the one controlling the array. His energy was distinctly different from the surrounding aura, and a strong presence should have detected him immediately.
Yet, the creature showed no reaction, not even changing its position. As Jiang Fann pondered this, the creature's spiritual sense swept over him again. Just like before, it passed over him without any action from the beast.
"Could it be a trapped demonic beast? If it sensed me, it should have locked onto my presence," Jiang Fann wondered aloud.
The Warrior Spirit chuckled, "Maybe you're just too weak for it to bother with."
Jiang Fann replied, "Even if I'm weak, I'm not from here. It should be able to tell the difference."
"Still, it's best not to provoke such a powerful beast. If possible, you might want to find a beast at the Mortal Separating Stage to ask about the situation in these mountains. There must be other beasts around, but you'll need to get out of this one's territory first. You won't find any here."
Jiang Fann considered, "Even if I don't have time to find a Mortal Separating Stage beast, their understanding of this place can't compare to that of a Reincarnation Stage beast. I'll take a look. If it's just a trapped great beast, maybe I can even help."
With that, he continued moving in the direction of the presence, eager to see what was going on with the beast. As he got closer, Jiang Fann had to slow down, planning to observe from a distance before approaching.
But even as he felt the presence growing stronger, he still couldn't see the creature, which puzzled him. The dense forest made visibility challenging, but he could make out the general surroundings. Yet, there was no sign of the beast anywhere.
A bad feeling crept over Jiang Fann. He quickly used his Divine Eye technique, activating the Golden Eye of Fire. Looking in the direction of the aura he sensed, he saw a hidden formation operating in the void. The spiritual sense and aura were emanating from that formation.
With just a glance, Jiang Fann could tell it wasn’t a seal but a special simulation formation. Scanning his surroundings, he realized he was at the center of this formation. It wasn’t part of the larger ground array but had drawn him here, clearly a trap.
Jiang Fann felt a bit speechless. Others sensing the demonic beast's aura would likely flee, avoiding the snare. His confidence in his abilities led him to investigate, only to fall into the trap, which was somewhat ironic.
The Martial God Order remained silent, seemingly unsure how to advise Jiang Fann. At that moment, the formation activated, and a spiritual barrier appeared around him, trapping him inside.
A figure emerged from the formation radiating powerful spiritual sense—a young man in a black robe, his face laced with mockery as he looked at Jiang Fann.
"Knowing it was a trap, you still walked right in. I can't decide if you're brave or just foolish!"
Jiang Fann stood within the formation, not making any immediate moves. Instead, he observed his opponent without anger. The figure before him resembled the spiritual practitioner he had encountered in the previous formation, but this one was evidently stronger, capable of taking human form and engaging in normal conversation.
"How do you know I didn't lure you out on purpose?" Jiang Fann asked.
The young man in black laughed, "On purpose? I've seen all your tricks along the way. You've thwarted my plans multiple times and even destroyed a fragment of my spirit. Do you know the price for that? Only an arrogant kid like you would fall into such a trap. Stop pretending to be calm and beg me to spare you..."
Jiang Fann remained unfazed, his demeanor relaxed, though slightly exasperated. Meanwhile, Lin Zhan and Xiao Ai had already assessed the formation beneath them, noting it lacked significant offensive power. There was no need for excessive worry, though the formation was indeed a seal of decent quality.
"Beg you? Shouldn't you be the one begging me to spare you? Release my friends, and I might consider letting you go. You've spent years cultivating your spirit to this level. Don't ruin your progress over a single mistake. I'm quite reasonable."
Despite his words, Jiang Fann had already begun to sense the patterns of the formation underfoot. He couldn't afford to remain trapped here, unaware of the situation with Wan Chengfeng and the others. If it weren't for the spirit watching him, he might have already summoned Xiao Mo to forcibly break the formation.
Upon hearing Jiang Fann's words, the spirit's expression turned cold, a hint of menace flashing in its eyes.
"Kid, you're the first to dare speak to me like that. I know you have some impressive formation skills and seem to have a Formation Spirit with you, along with techniques to assimilate spiritual power. But it doesn't matter—this is my domain, my world!"
As he finished, Jiang Fann felt a twinge of unease.
The spirit continued, "You also have two immortal treasures on you, which I didn't expect. But it won't help; no one can save you today. Those treasures will be mine once you're gone. I'll claim them as your 'friend.'"
With that, he turned and walked toward the mountain, ignoring Jiang Fann, exuding absolute confidence in his methods.
At that moment, Jiang Fann sensed something was amiss. Energies he thought had vanished were now coursing through the ground, entering the seal one after another. Yet, they didn't attack immediately, as if waiting for something.
Lin Zhan warned, "Young Master! The energy is accumulating. If it continues and explodes all at once, even a master of the reincarnation stage couldn't withstand it. There's no time to break the formation."
Jiang Fann didn't waste any time. He knew the consequences of waiting, and soon, Xiao Mo appeared by his side.
The Divine Blade was summoned by Jiang Fann, who infused it with spiritual strength before handing it to Xiao Mo.
"Can you break through?"
Xiao Mo grasped the Divine Blade, feeling its power, and nodded slightly. "Leave it to me!"
She didn't forget to shield Jiang Fann with her own spiritual strength, then channeled her energy into the blade. The sword's light flared, and the dragon pattern on the blade seemed to come alive, exuding a fierce aura. The dragon pearl glowed red, its formidable presence unfamiliar to Jiang Fann.
With both hands on the hilt, Xiao Mo swung the blade at the barrier, unconcerned with any special powers it might hold, relying solely on brute force to break through. A burst of red light erupted as the Divine Blade's power tore through the barrier, triggering a series of explosions from the formation's energy.
Jiang Fann felt a tug, and the next moment, he was pulled into the swirling dust, quickly moving beyond the barrier's confines. Xiao Mo steadied herself, brushing off the dust, seemingly unaffected by the explosion.
The Divine Blade's aura subsided as she handed it back to him. Jiang Fann took it, running his hand along the blade, and sighed, "I never imagined I couldn't even unleash all your power. I've got a long way to go."
The Blade of the Divine spoke up: "Master, don't be so sentimental. Once I recover from the damage, I'll be able to harness more power on my own. The strength you can wield will also increase significantly, and my power will be greatly enhanced. Don't forget to share some of the mystical gold from your treasure bag with me..."
"After this is over, I'll make sure you get more to absorb, including that lightning-infused mystical gold."
"Thank you, Master!"
In the distance, a spirit looked back in shock. He had just witnessed a stunning flash of red light, followed by a series of explosive sounds.
"It broke through! How is that possible?"
Unfortunately, since he had already moved away, he had no idea what had transpired there. He had been observing Jiang Fann, thinking he understood his methods, only to find there was more up his sleeve. He was well aware of the power of that sealing formation.
However, he quickly regained his composure, ignoring Jiang Fann's situation. Instead, he transformed into a streak of black light and flew directly toward the mountain. He knew he had to act quickly, or he would lose his last chance.
Meanwhile, Jiang Fann was already extending his spiritual strength, hoping to lock onto the spirit's presence, but he couldn't sense anything. Xiao Mo was in the same predicament.
He steadied himself, almost certain the opponent had fled far away.
"It seems he's scared."
The Martial Spirit spoke, "If he's scared, it means he can't handle your recent tactics, which suggests he won't be able to do much against Xiao Mo. However, this guy likes to play tricks, so it's best to stay cautious."
Jiang Fann nodded. He now understood that as long as he didn't act recklessly, he shouldn't fall into any traps. As for Xiao Mo, he decided to keep her hidden for now. The opponent's spiritual strength was too strong, and concealing her presence required more energy. Jiang Fann would handle things himself and only bring her out when necessary.
This encounter also served as a test of the soul's methods. Since it didn't have much combat power and relied mainly on formations, Jiang Fann felt less worried.
