C2883 CHAPTER2883

2"A wise man knows when to act."

Upon witnessing Gui Ming's agreement to collaborate, Xu Qinglei couldn't suppress a smile. "Fellow Daoist Gui Ming, you certainly won't regret your decision today."

Gui Ming was a man of action himself.

Having made up his mind, he wasted no time. "Fellow Daoist Xu, when shall we make our move on the Cloud Sky Sect?"

The Cloud Sky Sect's might was comparable to that of the Dark River Valley, governed by a single Primordial Immortal Venerable. Overall, they were even marginally less powerful than the Dark River Valley.

Yet...

For the Dark River Valley to attempt an annexation of the Cloud Sky Sect was no simple feat.

Success could come at a steep price, potentially inflicting severe damage to their life force. The losses could very well exceed the benefits.

Therefore...

Despite the longstanding tension between the Dark River Valley and the Cloud Sky Sect, open conflict had been avoided.

But now, with Xu Qinglei's support—him being the Grand Unity Immortal Venerable from Chang Qing Immortal Palace—the dynamics had shifted dramatically. United with Xu Qinglei, the Cloud Sky Sect's patriarch would stand no chance.

"There's no need to rush."

"Taking on the Cloud Heaven Sect won't be straightforward for just the two of us. We'll need to recruit some allies."

Xu Qinglei spoke calmly, "My plan is to approach the Sirius at Sirius Ridge and enlist their aid."

"Is that really necessary?"

Gui Ming's brow creased with concern. "The Cloud Sky Sect has but one Taiyi Realm ancestor, slightly less formidable than myself. Do we truly require the assistance of the Heavenly Wolf Clan?"

He believed that with only one Taiyi Immortal Venerable at the Cloud Sky Sect, if one of them could occupy him, the other would easily subdue the sect.

The Heavenly Wolf Clan, a vassal of the Dark River Valley, inhabited Sirius Ridge. Though not quite as strong as the Dark River Valley, they were still bona fide Taiyi Immortals.

The Heavenly Wolf Tribe, while under the Dark River Valley's domain, had long settled in Sirius Ridge, maintaining a neutral stance in their dealings with the Dark River Valley.

If the Heavenly Wolf Tribe were to lend their support, the Dark River Valley would find it nearly impossible to maintain a monopoly over the Cloud Sky Sect's resources.

"I have personally visited the Cloud Sky Sect," declared the sovereign. "It's far more complex than you imagine."

Xu Qinglei cast a knowing glance at Gui Ming. "Let me assure you that neither of us will be able to extract any benefits from the Cloud Sky Sect."

Gui Ming was taken aback by this revelation.

Could Xu Qinglei's implication be that the Cloud Sky Sect harbored more than one Primordial Immortal? The very thought seemed inconceivable.

The Underworld River Valley and the Cloud Sky Sect, steeped in a long-standing rivalry, were intimately familiar with each other's capabilities. How, then, could the Cloud Sky Sect have suddenly cultivated two Grand Yi Immortal Venerables?

Despite his doubts, Gui Ming understood that Xu Qinglei had no reason to deceive him on such a matter.

Yet, the Cloud Sky Sect was known to have just one ancestor at the Taiyi Realm. When had a second Taiyi Realm Immortal Venerable emerged?

Could it be that Yun Qian, the half-step Great Luo Immortal Venerable, had achieved a breakthrough to the Tai-Yi Realm?

This possibility weighed heavily on Gui Ming, etching a grave expression onto his face.

His alliance with the Evergreen Immortal Palace now seemed more prudent than ever.

Otherwise, with the deep-seated animosity between the Dark River Valley and the Cloud Sky Sect, the latter, now significantly empowered, would surely not overlook past grievances. The Dark River Valley would likely find itself in peril.

"Fellow Daoist Ghost Ming," Xu Qinglei announced, "I am bound for Heavenly Wolf Ridge forthwith. Make your preparations. Upon my return, we will witness the downfall of the Cloud Sky Sect."

With a final look at Gui Ming, Xu Qinglei transformed into a streak of lightning, vanishing into the distance. His voice echoed faintly above the Dark River Valley, lingering as he departed.

...

At the Cloud Sky Sect, Peter Parker, having repelled Xu Qinglei, retreated to his abode to enter the Tower of Time and bolster his strength.

On the second floor of the Tower of Time, Zi Yao continued his arduous endeavor to revert to his original bloodline. Given the current circumstances, the process appeared far from completion.

Peter Parker was convinced that once Zi Yao completed the reversal of his bloodline, his cultivation base would skyrocket. He suspected that Zi Yao would at least reach the formidable Tai-Yi Realm.

Yet, achieving bloodline atavism was no small feat. Even with the hundredfold acceleration of time in the Tower of Time's second level, it would take a while.

"Xu Qinglei won't let this slide. He's bound to return soon, and when he does, he'll bring overwhelming strength. I need to prepare," Peter mused, a glint of concern in his eyes.

He knew their cover was blown; the Immortal King's corpse had been revealed, and Cloudsky Sect still harbored a Primordial Immortal Venerable. Should Xu Qinglei return, he'd likely bring reinforcements—possibly two more Primordial Immortals.

If Zi Yao could complete his atavism before Xu Qinglei's return, they'd stand a chance. But Peter couldn't rely solely on Zi Yao.

An idea struck him. Without hesitation, Peter summoned the Immortal Monument and projected his will into a secluded spatial zone within it.

At the heart of this zone stood a black-armored figure, shackled by two enigmatic chains—the spirit of the Immortal Monument, Sunchaser Immortal Venerable, who aided in subduing the monument itself.

"Kid, you've decided to grace me with your presence," the Sunchaser Immortal Venerable remarked as he slowly opened his eyes, having been meditating in silence.

Peter offered a wry smile. "Immortal Venerable, you appear to be faring better than I expected."

"I've been awaiting your arrival, kid. You may have trapped me with this supreme Immortal Weapon, but you can't truly harm me," the Venerable retorted calmly.

"What's your price for freedom?" Peter asked directly, cutting to the chase.

Extending a finger, he proposed, "It's simple. To gain your freedom, Immortal Venerable, you need only serve by my side and obey my commands for a century."

"That's out of the question!" The Venerable scoffed, his voice icy. "Propose something else."

Despite his extraordinary nature, this individual was once an unparalleled Immortal Venerable at the pinnacle of the Chaos Origin Stage, just one step shy of ascending to the Immortal King realm. It was perplexing how Peter Parker could subdue him with such ease.

"In that case, Immortal Venerable, you have no choice but to remain here," Peter Parker remarked, a subtle smile gracing his lips. "A century is but a fleeting moment for someone of your stature. Moreover, your sole desire is to advance to the Immortal King realm. I believe I may be able to assist you in finding a path to that breakthrough."

A glimmer of hope sparked in Chasing Sun Immortal Venerable's eyes. "Are you speaking the truth?"

"I have extensive ties with the esteemed Immortal Execution Sword Immortal King and the Longevity Immortal King. Currently, I reside within the Longevity Immortal Realm. Should you accept my proposal... I can escort you to the Longevity Immortal Palace, where we can seek the means for you to ascend to the Immortal King Realm in due time," Peter Parker explained, his tone nonchalant.

After a moment of contemplation, Chasing Sun Immortal Venerable's expression shifted subtly. He then lifted his head resolutely and declared, "Very well, I consent to your terms. Henceforth, for the span of a hundred years, I shall heed your command!"
