C1474 Beast Taming

C1474 Beast Taming

0To maintain their power hierarchy, these forces ensured they wouldn't plummet precipitously.

Even if a generation was unlucky and lacked a genius for promotion, or if a Grand Elder passed away, their defenses remained more than sufficient.

They wouldn't lose significant territories or resources.

The presence of guardian beasts meant that complete annihilation was out of the question.

That was the safety net.

Hence, many high-level powers attempted to rear demon beasts.

The six major forces, for example, had nurtured quite a few, some of which had reached Emperor Level.

The reason these beasts were seldom seen when Lin Xuan arrived to reclaim the various sects was that they weren't strong enough, not even on par with the sect's protective formations, with none at the pinnacle of Emperor Level.

Cultivating human prodigies required far less time and resources than breeding demon beasts.

The six major forces, having unified the continent, each controlled dozens of First-class States and oversaw populations of the human race numbering in the hundreds of millions.

They were certainly not short of human talents.

High-level experts, like those at the peak of Emperor Level, were in continuous supply, so naturally, there weren't as many resources available for rearing demon beasts.

But for forces outside of the six major ones, the situation was different.

These forces were not permitted by the six majors to hold any First-class States.

Even the large cities they held were populated with numerous other powers.

This arrangement fostered mutual checks and balances, preventing any single power from rising quietly and posing a threat.

A scarcity of talent could lead to a break in the lineage of the upper echelons.

That's why a substantial portion of resources was allocated to the nurturing of demon beasts, to secure their legacy.

In the realm of raising and nurturing demon beasts, one name stood out on the continent: the Beast Origin City, home to the Beast Controlling Zhou Family.

With "Beast Controlling" preceding their name, one could infer the formidable nature of their beasts.

The Zhou Family was an Emperor Level force, second only to the six major forces, despite lacking any martial artists in the late period of Emperor Level.

The Zhou family, renowned for their mastery in beast control, boasted three Middle Stage Emperor Level guardians. Their ranks were bolstered by an indeterminate number of Emperor Level beasts. Each Zhou family member was adept at beast control, typically accompanied by a demonic beast matching their own level of cultivation. This gave them formidable combat strength, often fighting two against one, making them nearly unbeatable among their peers. Even the prodigies from the six great forces could struggle to match them, with only a select few top talents posing any real challenge. The Zhou family held little regard for their contemporaries or martial artists of the same level, though they showed some restraint within the territories of the six great forces. However, near Beast Origin City, their arrogance knew no bounds.

Recently, the five great forces decreed that all Emperor Level forces must contribute half of their savings as a gift to celebrate the establishment of a new sect, a demand that included the Zhou family. Outraged and defiant, the Zhou family refused to comply. Their daily expenses, primarily for the upkeep and cultivation of their beasts, far exceeded those of other forces. Nearly half their resources were dedicated to nurturing these creatures. The remaining resources were allocated to their own cultivation, the training of their successors, the cultivation of spiritual herbs, and the maintenance of Spell Formations. Surrendering nearly half of their savings would jeopardize the family's operations, leaving their beasts malnourished and stunted in growth, unable to advance despite being bound by slave contracts. Such a sacrifice would force austerity measures upon every level of their hierarchy.

The Zhou family had never encountered such an imposition before and were not about to capitulate. They readied their reserves, determined to resist. To their surprise, the forces of the five great powers mobilized swiftly. The leadership of the Tianyuan Palace's five halls had already deliberated and assigned each force a territory to oversee. The Zhou family's domain fell under the jurisdiction of the Purple Tripod Hall.

That day, within just a few hours, a small team arrived via a long-distance teleportation formation. In the teleportation hall of Beast Origin City, a dazzling white light flared. More than a dozen figures materialized at the site of the formation, drawing the gazes of many within the hall.

In an instant, they were struck dumb, rooted to the spot, unable to move. This was due to the release of several Emperor Level auras that enveloped the entire hall. Each of the dozen figures was an Emperor Level Expert, and none held back their imposing aura.

The leader, a middle-aged man in purple robes with a tall and sturdy build, exuded an astonishing presence, indicative of the late period of Emperor Level. His appearance sent shockwaves through everyone in the hall.

Without delay, the purple-robed man led his team out of the teleportation hall, and as they left, the oppressive Emperor Level pressure faded away. The martial artists present finally regained their ability to move.

"Isn't that man in purple the Fifth Elder of the Purple Cauldron Sect, Luo Tianlei? The rumors say that late period Emperor Level Experts of such renown could serve as Sect Masters of the six major powers. And they've come to Beast Origin City?"

"And behind Senior Luo are Senior Sun and Senior Zhang Haokong, both Emperor Level Experts!"

"No, that entire team consists of Emperor Level Experts from the Purple Cauldron Sect!"

"Why would the Purple Cauldron Sect dispatch such a formidable force to this small Beast Origin City?"

"Could the rumors actually be true?"

"What rumors?"

"The ones about the newly established Tianyuan Palace demanding that the various Emperor Level forces hand over half of their savings as a tribute?"

"The same rumors claim that Tianyuan Palace has obliterated the Devil Cloud Sect and taken over the East Saint Sect, Purple Cauldron Sect, and Elemental Spirit Sect. It's so astonishing, I had thought they were false!"

"Seeing the grand display from the Purple Cauldron Sect, it looks like there might be truth to it."

"Handing over half of their savings in one fell swoop? Who could endure that? I bet even the Zhou family wouldn't take it lying down. Perhaps that's why the Purple Cauldron Sect has sent so many Emperor Level Experts to enforce the decree."

"This is going to be interesting. Let's go check it out. Is it for real?!"

"The Zhou family, with their beast-taming arrogance, have been bullying independent cultivators and smaller factions. Now, it seems like cosmic justice is finally catching up with them!"

"Come on, let's go see for ourselves!"

"..."

Inside the Transfer Hall, there was initially a buzz of conversation.

The warriors quickly put two and two together, figuring out what must have happened.

Some sensed that a major battle could be on the horizon, posing a great danger, and they considered using the Transfer Formation to flee.

However, the majority were eager to witness the downfall of the Zhou family and wanted to get in on the action.

Among those in the Transfer Hall were numerous Zhou family warriors.

Upon realizing the gravity of the situation, their faces paled, and they rushed to inform their family's higher-ups using talismanic messages.

Meanwhile, in Beast Origin City.

Luo Tianlei, an Emperor Level Expert in the late stage, showed no signs of holding back.

Leading an Emperor Level Team, he headed straight for the Zhou family's stronghold.

He brandished his Emperor Level might without restraint.
